Our Story

A Kilkenny landmark,
kept in the family

Lanigan's Bar & Restaurant has been part of Kilkenny life for generations. You'll find us at 28 Rose Inn Street, Kilkenny city centre — 2 minutes from Kilkenny Castle and beside the Medieval Mile Museum. A family-run pub at one of the city's most welcoming addresses. Kilkenny has changed around us, but the welcome hasn't.

The pub has always moved with the rhythms of Kilkenny. Saturday afternoons when the city fills for a championship match — the 14ft LCD video wall comes to life and the whole bar turns to face it. Sunday lunches that stretch into the afternoon the way only an Irish pub can manage. Quiet Monday evenings that remind you why you love a local. Friday nights when the late bar takes over and Rose Inn Street does what it does best.

This is what a family pub should feel like. The food, the service, the atmosphere — everything in the right place.
— Declan F., via Google Reviews

Three settings, one soul. A gastro kitchen that takes food seriously without taking itself too seriously. A sports bar that's earned its screen — 14 feet of it. A late bar on Friday and Saturday nights that's been part of Kilkenny's social fabric for long enough to know what it's doing.

1,430+ Google reviews and 800+ on TripAdvisor — the record of every warm welcome, every pint poured right, and every Saturday night that went exactly as it should.
